ExifTool overview
ExifTool is a platform-independent Perl library plus a command-line application for reading, writing and editing meta information in a wide variety of files.
ExifTool supports many different metadata formats including EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, JFIF, GeoTIFF, ICC Profile, Photoshop IRB, FlashPix, AFCP and ID3, as well as the maker notes of many digital cameras by Canon, Casio, FLIR, FujiFilm, GE, HP, JVC/Victor, Kodak, Leaf, Minolta/Konica-Minolta, Nikon, Nintendo, Olympus/Epson, Panasonic/Leica, Pentax/Asahi, Phase One, Reconyx, Ricoh, Samsung, Sanyo, Sigma/Foveon and Sony.
What's new in version 13.59
- Fixed: Some menu items (View - Zoom and Mask menu) remained greyed out when they should be enabled.
- For TIFF output, the 'separate' alpha mode was removed in the previous version. It is now added back; it may be useful in Photoshop where it shows the transparency as a separate channel in the Channels tab.
- Improved German translations (thanks Michael Göricke!)
- The PTGui Viewer now parses 'GPano' Photosphere XMP metadata. This metadata is embedded by PTGui for equirectangular panoramas. As a result, the PTGui Viewer now correctly displays the panorama even if it is not a full 360x180 panorama.
- Fixed: 'Assertion Failed' error when generating control points for certain projects
- Added lens profile for the Canon RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5L FISHEYE STM.
- Added lens profile for the Laowa 8-15mm F2.8 Fisheye.
- Added lens profile for the DJI Avata 360. Images named _UP and _DOWN are placed correctly.
- Fixed: Linux: under some circumstances, PTGui could fail to start, giving this error: "Could not open file for writing: /tmp/nh142_ptgtempid".
- Fixed: possible crash when working with panoramas consisting of many source images.

If someone would write a GUI to integrate with this app, then it would be useful for more than the 1-in-a-1000 Mac users who are Terminal-savvy.
